Privacy

What we keep

• Your account: your email address, a scrambled (hashed) password, your username, display name, avatar and bio.
• What you post: your text posts, photos, comments, and anything you leave on a friend's page.
• Your friendships: who you are connected to, plus your private preferences — who you pinned, the nickname you gave someone, and when you last looked at their page.
• Messages: your direct messages, readable only by you and the person you are talking to.
• A few small activity records: which friends' pages you have visited, which photos you have already opened, and which posts you have saved. These exist for one reason: to show you what is new and what you have already seen.

What we don't do

• No ads, no sponsored posts, and no algorithmic feed.
• Tarry's pages don't load tracking pixels or third-party trackers that watch what you do elsewhere on the internet.
• We don't sell your data, and we don't build advertising profiles from it.

Who can see your stuff

• Your posts and photos: you and your friends.
• Your older posts: only you. Once a post is past 180 days it disappears from your wall for visitors and waits in your private Shoebox.
• Your saved list, your nicknames, and your "new photos from friends" grid: only you.
• Direct messages: only you and the friend you are talking with.

How long things stay

• Posts stay on your wall where friends can see them for 180 days. After that they are not deleted — they move to your Shoebox, where only you can reach them.
• Saved posts drop off your saved list after 180 days. The post itself stays on its wall.
• You can delete your own posts and comments any time.

Where it lives

Your data sits in a managed database and private file storage provided by our hosting platform. Photos are kept in a private bucket and shown through short-lived private links, so they cannot be listed or grabbed from outside.

Your choices

To ask for a copy of your data, correct something wrong, or close your account, email privacy@tarry.social. Closing your account removes your profile, posts, photos, messages and saved list.
